I was scrolling through some YouTube videos the other morning and came across a video of Wayne Dyer. He talked about our thoughts and how we can’t manifest what we want if we are always thinking about how things are right now. Because our thoughts become things, when we concentrate on the things that are going wrong or that aren’t happening, we will stay in that state. Then, he read the Mother Teresa poem, and I knew I needed to share it.

Mother Teresa Poem – Do It Anyway

People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered;

forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;

be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;

succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;

be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;

build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, there may be jealousy;

be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;

do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;

give the world the best you’ve got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God;

it was never between you and them anyway.

What is the “Do It Anyway” poem trying to say?

What Mother Teresa seems to be saying is that the ultimate purpose of our lives is to do good for others and follow our hearts, and that we should not be discouraged by obstacles or challenges along the way.

Your dreams and desires are yours and yours alone. You were born to share them and by doing so bring joy to others. Don’t let others who may not understand that discourage you. The joy you feel by sharing your gifts and having a positive impact on others is reward enough.

You have to get past the fear, jealousy, comparisons, and worries and keep focusing on yourself and how you can be a light for others.

This poem encourages you to stay true to your values and principles, to act with kindness and honesty, and to focus on your own actions rather than worrying about the opinions of others.

The final line, “It was never between you and them anyway,” emphasizes the importance of staying true to yourself and to your higher purpose, even when others may not understand or support it.
