Mindset is a big deal. Your mindset is the beliefs that shape how you make sense of the world and yourself. It influences how you think, feel, and behave in any given situation. You have probably heard that word before but brushed it aside because you have so much else to worry about. But I think it is time for you to discover how to change your mindset.
For example, if you believe:
- Life is hard; you may shy away from doing new things because you think it will be difficult.
- Money is evil; you will push it away from you.
- Nobody loves me; you will not see the people that do.
- You are not worthy of success; you will not see the success you are already achieving.
- You have to lose weight; you will never see how perfect you are right now.
When you are feeling challenged or unhappy, it usually means you are believing something that may not be true.
But here’s the good news about mindset, you can change it instantly! All you have to do is think of new thoughts.
Why Mindset Is Important
It’s how you view your life; when you believe certain things, you could be holding yourself back from reaching your dreams and desires.
Those are called limiting beliefs.
The next time you find yourself struggling or feeling bad, stop and notice what you are thinking. And then decide if that is still true or can that thought be changed.
Let’s say you want to have more adventures in your life. But every time you start planning one, you think that your family or work needs you. You might think that you can’t take time off. There is no one to have adventures with, or it’s easier to just stay at home. Those are all beliefs that come from your mindset.
Now, ask yourself if any of them are actually true. Ok, it might be easier to stay at home, but I don’t think that is what you want to do.
Practice changing your mindset. You are entitled to time off and to have some fun. Your family and work can figure out how to live without you for a few days. You are smart with your money and have planned for vacations. Why can’t I travel alone? There are so many possibilities for adventure!
Can you feel the heaviness of the first set of beliefs and the excitement of the second?
Of course, you must take action to go on your adventure, but now you know it is possible. You are in charge of your mind, so take responsibility for your thoughts and co-create the life you want to live.
