If you are paying attention at all to social media or mainstream media, you have seen the divide between all of mankind. Whether it’s politics, race, medicine, religion, money, or sexual orientation. There are people out there who are trying to distract us and keep us divided. The conspiracy theories are abundant, and if you decide to dig deeper into any of them, you will go down a rabbit hole and may not be able to get back out. I’m working on how to stay positive in a negative world.
This happened to me, but before I could get too deep, I was given some good advice.
Before I get to the advice, let me tell you how it sucked me in. I learned of a political agenda that is very disturbing. Once I heard a few “words,” more information kept coming up. Some of it was so disgusting I was ready to put my hands up and give up on Living Marvelously. What was the point of trying to inspire people to love their lives and be positive when there are powerful and greedy people in control anyway?
But then I talked to my coach, and she told me to be careful. There are people on every side of every issue who will try to make you hate the other side. That’s how they build their power. Don’t let the information only spew hatred and negativity; look for the ones that give you ways to make things better. Ones that empower you to make a positive change.
That’s when I came to my senses and realized that we cannot let the evil, greedy, and power-hungry tell us how to think. Only you and I have the power to do that for ourselves.
Here are a few ways I came up with to stay positive in a negative world.
How to Stay Positive in a Negative World
Begin at home. Be an example of all you want to share. Love yourself, and be a good partner, parent, and child. Be respectful, authentic, and trustworthy. You must be the change you seek in the world.
Lead others to do the same. By being an example, you can help others to do the same with their own home. I teach a course called Infinite Possibilities that shows you the power you have to create a life you love. It is your responsibility.
“I’m going to role model the energy I wish the world had.” Brendon Burchard
Know that you have control of your own mindset. Don’t let anyone take that away. Do not be influenced to hate, be angry, or be judgmental by anyone.
You have control! Meditate every morning to calm your mind, clear it, and fill it back up with thoughts that make you happy.
Surround yourself with positive people. Look for people who inspire, uplift, and challenge you to be your best.
“People tend to be generous when sharing their nonsense, fear, and ignorance. And while they seem quite eager to feed you their negativity, please remember that sometimes the diet we need to be on is a spiritual and emotional one. Be cautious with what you feed your mind and soul. Fuel yourself with positivity and let that fuel propel you into positive action.” Steve Marabeli
Read every article or post with a neutral mind. Does what it says make sense to you? Are they giving you ways to take action and improve the situation, or are they just telling you to hate or be angry at someone else?
Every person in the 7.5 billion on this earth has a right to their own opinion. In the United States, you have the right to speak it. Whatever side you decide to take, make sure you are well-informed, have done your research, and are willing to make things better.
Don’t put your head in the sand and ignore how the world is changing. But don’t let the world get you down, either. Look for the incredible amounts of good going on, too.
“Instead of obsessing over the things you cannot change, focus on what you can. Your mindset, your attitude and your energy.” Mandy Hale
Follow the virtues of greatness. Honesty, responsibility, intelligence, excellence, courage, respect, vigilance, service and unity. Demand these things of yourself and others.
Hold up your own morals while you do what you want to fight the injustice of the world.
“Don’t adapt to the energy in the room. Influence the energy in the room. Always remember that your positive energy is contagious, spread the positive vibrations to others and watch your spirits be lifted.” Law of Attraction.com
If a cause is getting you fired up, and you feel the need to do something, then do something. Don’t just argue, complain, judge others for not feeling the same way, or feel the hate in your heart. Write letters, donate money, volunteer, educate yourself and others, etc. But do these things with love.
Be grateful for all you have and all that you have achieved. Stay busy living your dream life and reaching your goals.
Speak of the world in a positive manner. Think of the world in a positive light. Search for positivity in every situation.
“Yesterday, I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today, I am wise, so I change myself.” Rumi
