I recently joined a small group of women who said “yes” to a transformational retreat led by a brilliant business and spiritual coach. Over a few days, we poured out our feelings, fears, hopes, and dreams. We asked big questions—of our leader, of ourselves, and of God. I was tested mentally and physically. I learned so much, but one main theme followed me home: I need to pay attention to what God and the Universe are telling me. When I do, life becomes so much easier.
The truth is, there have been many times when I’ve caught myself changing what I do or say because I was afraid to be the real me. Other times, I felt like I needed to twist myself into someone else’s expectations just to fit in. Too often, I hid in the background, letting others take the lead. But deep down, I knew I wasn’t being true to myself. It didn’t feel good. It wasn’t fun. And life started to feel heavy because I was working so hard at being someone I wasn’t.
Can you relate?
During the retreat, we explored Human Design and the Gene Keys. According to the Jovian Archive:
“With Human Design you discover what makes you different from everyone else. It offers profound insights into your psychology, along with strategies and techniques for making correct decisions and ultimately leading to a life of more ease and fulfillment.”
My design and my Gene Keys showed me specific ways to live with more ease. But here’s the beautiful part—you don’t need your chart to get started. All you need is to pay attention to what feels good and what brings you joy.
One poem we shared (slightly paraphrased) spoke to this:
The Quantum Field of Knowing is God, the Universe, Source, Higher Spirit, or whatever feels good to you.
Isn’t that beautiful? There is an energy that knows how to make life easy—you just have to tune in. Of course, “easy” doesn’t always come easily. But with some guidance, you can begin to take baby steps in that direction.
Here are four tips I brought home with me:
How to Make Life Easy
Discover what your relationship with the divine is. What do you want to call it? How do you want to access it?
There are many options of what to call it. Higher Spirit, God, Universe, Source, Collective, Angel, GUS (God, Universe, Source), Intuition, etc. You can access it through meditation, writing, playing, walking, showering, or art. The key is to pay attention to how the divine speaks to you. Be open to strange things that might happen. Or even to the ordinary things at strange times.
I talk to God and our relationship is like a friendship. I ask questions, he answers, I process the answers, and then decide what to do with them. If I ever get off track, I usually get a sign that I need to pivot. That sign may be feeling bad about myself, not having any energy, sickness, confusion about my goals and dreams, etc. All I have to do is reconnect and ask another question. Writing plays a big role in my relationship. I write down what comes to mind, and I also have a record of it to look back on.

Be aware of what comes easy to you. What makes you happy?
The things that come easy and make you happy are the things that you are meant to be doing. If you are struggling in your career, either find things about it that you do like, or look for something else. If you are struggling in a relationship, look for ways to incorporate more of what you love to do or find something else. You create your life. You don’t have to hang on to things that are hard or unpleasant.
One thing that I learned in my gene keys is that I work best in partnerships. My past work experiences would prove that to be true. But I am working alone right now with Living Marvelously and it can be a struggle. So now I am open to the idea of someone joining me and working together. I am open to what that will look like and am seeking guidance from God. But I do know that I am on the right track because I am having a blast writing and learning and sharing with all of you.
Know that everyone is creating their own life. You pay attention to your own.
Everyone lives in their own world. They were raised in different homes, cultures, and environments, by different parents and families, and with different beliefs. We all only know what we know. If you see someone doing something that feels wrong to you, instead of judging, reflect on why it bothers you. What do you need to change in your own life to not let it bother you? If you see someone doing something that you are jealous of, instead of judging them, make it a goal or a dream of your own.
If everyone could do that, we would all share our gifts and live in peace. And even if you don’t think that could ever be a reality, you can still create your own peace. It only takes you to change the world. The ripple effect is amazing!
It’s the negative energy from judging others that can make life complicated. We waste so much time worrying about what others are doing instead of enjoying our own life.
Love and forgive.
Take a moment for a deep breath. Close your eyes and visualize all of the people you love. Now picture yourself enjoying time with them, laughing, and feeling really good. Sit there for a moment in that joy.
As you come out of your visualization, how long does it take to start feeling anxious again about someone or something? The longer you can make that gap, the easier life will be. It takes energy and it repels God when you are feeling hate or anger. When you tackle life from a place of love and forgiveness, God will show up much faster.
There will be times when forgiveness feels impossible, but if you forgive another person, it does not mean that they are right or excused for their behavior; it just means you no longer want to carry the burden. That is a huge release of space that can be filled with the things that make life easy.
I learned so much while on my retreat. It is helpful to know what my tendencies are and to pay attention to what comes easily.
What comes easy for you? What brings you the most joy? How can you form a relationship with the divine to help you out? Who and what do you need to release?

I love your post, I do agree that you should pay attention to your own life. That will make life easier for you and focus on yourself. Forgive, love and move on. I love it.
