Do you remember when you were a kid, and the world was your playground? You could be anything and anyone you wanted. Maybe it was a superhero, a doctor, the richest person in the world, a police officer, ballet dancer, astronaut, athlete, or actor. I remember wanting to be a dancer for a while. Dreaming big was part of your everyday play.

As you grew up, some of those big dreams may have changed. Your vision may have gotten smaller as you learned new limiting beliefs. You may have been taught that there were limits to how big your dreams could be.

It’s time to challenge those beliefs and start dreaming big again.

Dreaming big starts with having a vision. A vision of a better life, success, and abundance.

Dreaming big means moving beyond your current reality. Not being complacent, compliant, or stagnant. Taking control of your desires and taking baby steps in their direction.

No matter how old you are, it is not too late to go after your big dreams. Every day you are alive is another opportunity to move in that direction.

Everything that you see around you started with a vision. The chair you are sitting on, the internet you are using to read this, airplanes, cars, TV’s, and even the nature you see out the window. Someone had to dream big and then make those things a reality.

You can do it too.

When I use the term big, I mean big to you. Not everyone’s big dreams are the same. To you, a big dream might be getting a promotion at work that pays more money. To someone else, a big dream might be traveling the world. You get to define what “big” is.

Use these tips and quotes to get your imagination going!

Start Dreaming Big Again

Start with a vision

What comes to your mind when you are quiet and dream of the perfect life? What are you doing, who are you with, when is this happening, and where are you? Also, notice how you are feeling. Light, happy, free, joyful, independent, loved, etc. Use your imagination and make your vision impressive! Visualize it every day!

“Create the highest, grandest vision possible for your life because you become what you believe.” Oprah Winfrey

Remember that thoughts become things

Watch what you are thinking and saying about your dreams. What you give your attention to gets stronger, so don’t complain about not having enough time or that you are not good or deserving enough. Focus on what you want. Catch yourself when you are saying negative things about yourself, acknowledge it, and spin it into something more positive.

“If you think you can do a thing or think that you can’t do a thing, you’re right.” Henry Ford

Believe in yourself and that your dreams will come true

Beliefs are your views and opinions about life. They are so powerful because they affect how you think, speak, and act in all areas of your life. When your beliefs match your desire and vision, nothing is stopping you! Again, pay attention to limiting beliefs that come up on your journey. If it doesn’t match your big dreams, choose a new belief that does.

“The strongest factor for success is self-esteem: believing you can do it, believing you deserve it and believing you can get it.”

Take baby steps

Begin the journey. Put your car in gear and drive towards your destination. Taking action of any kind in the direction of your big dream sets forth all kinds of behind-the-scenes help from the Universe. Don’t worry about exactly how your big dream will come true; keep putting yourself out there. Knock on doors until they open.

“Take action! An inch of movement will bring you closer to your goals than a mile of intention.” Steve Maraboli

Learn from the challenges that arise

You will undoubtedly run into some challenges. The key is to recognize them for what they are. A moment to think about what you need to learn and an opportunity to make sure you are on the right path. Did you take a wrong turn somewhere along the way? Decide what your next step will be. Maybe you are feeling some intuition to change course. Look at challenges as opportunities, not obstacles.

“The struggle you are in today is developing the strength you need for tomorrow.”

You define when you have reached success.

Everyone’s definition of happiness, joy, or success is different. Know what it means to you. If you live a life that makes you happy and allows you to do all the things you dream of doing, congratulations! Don’t let anyone tell you any differently. But if you still have areas of your life that could bring you more joy, then create a new desire and start the process all over again.

“Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” Thomas Edison

Our purpose in life is to live it. To be happy now.

So, start dreaming big again and live a life that makes you happy.
